DESCRIPTION: As Earth’s last ice age ended, massive midwest glaciers retreated north, leaving the Great Lakes. The southern shore of Lake Superior – relieved of glacial weight – lifted, forming massive sandstone cliffs. Frozen each winter in a curtain of ice and dripping each summer in a cascade of water over the lake, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island make up one of Michigan’s premiere outdoor destinations.
PRODUCTION: Pictured Rocks is my home away from home in Michigan. Somehow I talked my way into making it an assignment.
